Information We Collect

The Athenian School does not track, collect, or distribute personal information about site visitors, however, we do collect information about site visits using Google Analytics. We have access to domain names and I.P. addresses of our visitors. We compile statistics that show the number of visitors and the number of requests we receive for particular pages or files on the site. These statistics are used internally to evaluate and improve the user experience of our website and are not shared with any third-parties. The statistics contain no personal information (or email addresses) and cannot be used to gather such information.

Only parents, students, faculty, staff, and alumni are provided access to specific password-protected areas of our website which may contain personally identifiable information.

Cookies

We collect some anonymous information about how you use our website by setting and accessing cookies on your computer. A cookie is a small text file containing a unique identification number that is transferred from the web site to your hard drive. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. A session ID cookie terminates once you close the browser. A persistent cookie is stored on your hard drive for an extended period of time. The stored cookies will not allow us to learn any personally identifiable information that you have not otherwise disclosed. At no time will the cookies reveal to The Athenian School or to others your name, email address, street address, or telephone number.

The use of cookies is an industry standard, and they are currently used on most major websites. It is possible to adjust your browser preferences to alert you when a cookie is sent to your hard drive, or to refuse cookies altogether. However, this may significantly alter what you are able to see or access on our website.

Data Privacy

The website contains email addresses of faculty and staff (and within the password-protected parts of the site The Athenian School parents). The use of this information for private, commercial, or political mailings and/or distribution to any outside party is prohibited. If you have any questions about our privacy policy, please contact The Athenian School.

The Athenian School is committed to protecting the privacy of our students and their families. We do not post the full names of students on the public pages of our website. Images of students are used on the public pages of the site; however, in most instances, students are not identified by their full name in images. When relevant to a news story, students may be identified by first name and last initial only. Parents may at any time request the removal of their child from any photos used on our website. Within the password-protected pages of the site, the use of students' full names is allowed and students can also be identified by full name in images.

Online Giving and Transactions

We are committed to the privacy of all our donors and to those making any kind of transaction via the The Athenian School website. Should you decide to make an online donation or purchase, you will be asked to provide your name, contact information, and credit card billing information. All of this information is encrypted using SSL, an industry-standard secure technology designed to prevent the theft or interception of the information you provide and sent to a securely-hosted third-party payment gateway. Credit card billing information is used only to obtain payment from the appropriate credit card firm and to fulfill the donor's or purchaser's request and is not stored or otherwise retained by The Athenian School after the transaction is complete.
